New Delhi: With claims by Swami Aseemanand that RSS leadership "sanctioned" some terror acts creating a controversy, the NIA on Friday distanced itself from the issue saying it doesn`t have any role in the publication of his purported interview.

"There have been varying reports in sections of the media on NIA`s position in respect of the alleged interview of Naba Kumar Sarkar alias Swami Aseemanad in the February 2014 issue of the magazine `Caravan`. NIA clarifies that these reports are mere speculation and do not in any manner reflect the official position of NIA," the agency said in a statement.

Aseemanand`s lawyer had alleged that the interview was the result of manipulations done by the agency.
