PA Sangma flays Obama`s remarks

Prez candidate PA Sangma said US President Barack Obama`s remarks with regard to the investment climate in India were shameful for the country.

Jaipur: Opposition-backed Presidential candidate PA Sangma on Monday said US President Barack Obama`s remarks with regard to the investment climate in India were shameful for the country.

"Barack Obama is directing the government of India what it should do, this is shameful for the country," he told a press conference here.

Opposition parties have also lashed out at Obama for his remarks that India prohibits foreign investment in too many sectors.

Sangma was in the city to garner support for his Presidential bid and was optimistic about getting tribal votes.

The tribals of the country are grateful to the BJP for supporting me. Independent MLAs met me here and I am hopeful of their support,? he said.

Sangma said former union minister Pranab Mukherjee is an independent candidate and not the nominee of the Congress for the Presidential election.

The former Lok Sabha Speaker met BJP leader and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje at her residence here.
He also went to the BJP office and held a meeting with party?s MLAs and MPs.

Later, Sangma met tribal leader and independent MP Kirori Lal Meena at his residence.

Meena assured him full support, the Rajasthan MP`s aides said.

Sangma also danced with Meena, a former BJP leader.

Before Sangma’s arrival, posters for the welcome of Sangma by Meena were seen outside the BJP office.
However, these were removed by the party workers soon.
