Jodhpur, June 08: Bollywood star Salman Khan could not take possession of his arms and camera, seized by police four years ago in poaching cases against him, despite court's order and execution of personal bond and surety, even as one more prosecution witness has turned hostile.
Khan, who personally appeared in a local court yesterday to execute a personal bond of Rs two lakh and surety of like amount for getting released his seized air rifle, two air
guns, a US made revolver, a knife, a tele-lense and a camera, could not get them, His counsel Hastima Saraswat said today.
After execution of the bond, the judicial magistrate ordered release of the items from the court's godown in the morning. However, permission of the district collector was
needed for taking the arms to Mumbai. Khan had already obtained permission of the commissioner of Mumbai to bring the arms into the city.
When Khan and his counsel reached the District Collectorate at 11.45 am they were told that the collector was busy in some meeting and they were asked to come at 3.30 pm, Saraswat said. The collector finally issued permission at 4.45 pm, but by then it was too late to collect the arms from the court godown. Since Saturday and Sunday are holidays, the actor returned to Mumbai last evening.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Ali of local Aashirwad Hotel, who was presented as a prosecution witness in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate S K Mathur yesterday, denied having told the police that he cooked the meet of poached animals.
