Lucknow, Aug 07: BSP supremo Mayawati today charged the Samajwadi Party with hatching a conspiracy to eliminate her.
"We have come to know through reliable sources that there is a plot to assassinate me and the Union government has already been informed about it through a letter sent by me today," she told newspersons here.
She said she has written to President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in this regard.
"The Samajwadi Party workers have been saying that I had escaped their attack on June 2, 1995 at the state guest house in Lucknow but this time I would not escape," Mayawati added.
She said she has also informed the president and the Prime Minister through her letter about other conspiracies by the Samajwadi Party and its Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav to frame her and senior BSP leaders in order to weaken BSP's support base.
Warning Yadav to mend his ways, Mayawati said in case the cheap designs against her and other partymen continued, BSP would be forced to launch an indefinite state wide agitation to uproot the Samajwadi Party from the state.
Referring to an allegation against two of her senior party leaders, Naseemuddin Siddiqui and Babu Singh Kushwaha that they had been given a contract to kill leaders of the BJP and Samajwadi Party recently, Mayawati said the two were being made scapegoat to divert people's attention from what she said the Samajwadi Party's plot to assassinate her.
Alleging that police was harassing the family members of two leaders who had no criminal background and were totally innocent, Mayawati termed it as a part of the larger plan to demoralise her partymen and weaken BSP's support base.
