Shimla: Observing that "speed post has lost
its speed", Himachal Pradesh High Court has directed the state
Post Master General to file a report on the efficacy of the
service and provide a record of complaints regarding delay in
delivery of articles.
The division bench of the High Court consisting of Chief
Justice Joseph Kurian and Justice V K Sharma issued the
directions during hearing of a petition filed by Dev Kumar and
Pushp Raj Sharma, who had used the speed post service to send
their job application for some post in the H P Subordinate
Services Selection Board (HPSSSB).
However, their applications were rejected as these were
not delivered till the last date of submission.

The Court also asked the Post Master General about the
steps taken to ensure deliveries in time and it directed the
HPSSSB to provisionally admit the petitioners for examination
and posted the matter for August 1.
