New Delhi, Mar 30: Editor of 'Down to Earth' magazine Sunita Narain was today presented the Chameli Devi Jain Award for bringing environmental issues to the mainstream.
Presenting the award, Vir Sanghvi said "Every journalist believes that she can change the world through writing but only a few can live up to that expectation. And Sunita has been able to achieve this distinction."
The award was instituted by Media Foundation headed by veteran journalist B G Verghese.
Narain, who took charge of both NGO Centre Of Science and Environment (CSE) and the magazine after the death of environmentalist Anil Agarwal, said "We have to think and
understand India differently and only then will we be able to do something."
Verghese said Narain had made the magazine a "powerful vehicle of action, awareness building, empowerment and passionate advocacy that has had a major impact on all streams
of society."
