New Delhi, Oct 07: Top government officials will
review the situation in the wake of the dengue outbreak in the
country on Saturday as the deadly disease spread to 14 states
and claimed 46 lives.
Health Ministry officials will brief the meeting chaired
by Cabinet Secretary B K Chaturvedi and attended by senior
bureaucrats, sources said.
Health Secretary P K Hota will attend the meeting.
Dengue has spread to more parts of the country with 3,236
cases of the viral disease being reported from at least 14
states and 46 people dying due to it.
While Delhi accounted for maximum number of deaths at 18,
in Rajasthan eight persons succumbed to the infection followed
by four each in Karnataka, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh, three
each in Gujarat and West Bengal and one each in Haryana and
Maharashtra.
