New Delhi: The social networking giant Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced a $100 million effort to make tiny spaceships capable of interstellar space travel in partnership with world-renowned British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking and Russian billionaire Yuri Milner.
Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that the company will send tiny space probes to the nearest star system, Alpha Centauri, to probe possible alien life in space.
Alpha Centauri is one of the closest star systems to the solar system and the current fastest spacecraft would have to spend 30,000 years to get there.
