Music streaming service Saavn update allows tagging, comments on songs

India focused music streaming service Saavn has launched an update for its mobile apps users, which adds new social and sharing features.

Washington: India focused music streaming service Saavn has launched an update for its mobile apps users, which adds new social and sharing features.

Saavn, founded in2006, has around 13 million monthly active users.

According to the TechCrunch web site, Saavn now allows people to follow friends profile, playlists and activity.

Users can also follow general playlists for updates, as well as artists and celebrity users. When an item you follow is updated, the app pings a notification.

Saavn also allows users to tag their friends within songs, playlists and albums.

In this new update, Saavn has added a feature, in which tagged users can comment which are nested.

Saavn's tagging feature works much like Facebook.

Rishi Malhotra, Saavn co-founder and CEO said that in the same way that tagged photographs on social media get more interaction than untagged ones, he expects Saavn's new social features to increase engagement among users who can also share songs to Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, SMS and email, reported TechCrunch.

This is the second major social move from Saavn in recent times after the company added tweet-powered radio back in December.
