Child sacrifice: BSF constable arrested

One of the BSF personnels who had been detained in connection with case of suspected child sacrifice, was arrested in West Garo Hills district.

Shillong: One of the two BSF personnel who
had been detained in connection with a case of suspected child
sacrifice, was arrested today in Meghalaya`s West Garo Hills
district.

"Constable Babu Khan was formally arrested today for
his involvement in the murder case. He will be produced before
the magistrate tomorrow and police custody will be sought for
interrogation," DIG GHP Raju said.
Deputy Commissioner Sanjay Goyal said Khan had been
giving contradictory statements which were not in consonance
with the records.

The police were questioning other BSF men, including
Havildar Chandrawan who was also detained.
The body of seven-year-old boy, Krishna Singh, was
recovered from near the BSF 121 battalion headquarters at Tura
on Thursday. The boy, son of a BSF cook, was missing since
Wednesday.

The body bore multiple injuries, including those
caused by incense sticks, piercing wounds and others.

At least two teams of Meghalaya Police have been sent
to Mancachar in Assam from where an occultist had visited the
BSF campus a few days back. The occultist was picked up and
released on PR bond at Mancachar police station yesterday.

"Telephone records showed Babu Khan had been in touch
with the occultist who had visited the BSF campus at Tura
during the pujas," Goyal said.
