New Delhi: The crowd at Kingsmead, Durban witnessed a rarest of the rare incident in the history of cricket as a shot that came off Dinesh Karthik’s bat hit the spider cam with a bang!
As per the rules, it was declared as a dead ball by the umpires. It was a very typical incident that never happened on a cricket field before.
Karthik struck the shot powerfully and within a flick of an eye, it thumped the spider cam. And the commentators did the rest of the job in order to add spice to this funny and a never-seen-before collision. The injured spider cam somehow managed to heal the damage and continued to do its job.
That was not the end of the entertainment for the crowd, as two balls later, Karthik ran into umpire S. Ravi while coming back for his second run hit at mid-wicket area. Just like the spider cam, the umpire escaped unhurt and the match continued!
