New Delhi: Four time BJP MP from Gurdaspur Vinod Khanna on Monday termed the terrorist attack in his constituency as "shocking" and "unfortunate", saying the guilty will not be spared.
"It's terribly shocking and unfortunate for the residents of Gurdaspur district. The guilty will not be spared. Am sure the authorities on the ground are working with central officials and we will defeat the designs of the attackers," he said.
In the first major terror strike in Punjab in eight years, heavily-armed militants in army uniform today sprayed bullets on a moving bus and stormed a police station, killing six persons, including an SP, and injuring eight others in Gurdaspur bordering Pakistan.
The MP said that the government has taken "all necessary steps" to mitigate the outcome of this unfortunate incident.
"Am sure the central government will move swiftly and firmly. We have to raise and keep vigilance high always," the veteran actor said, adding that he was unable to be physically present at his home in Pathankot with his constituents due to ill-health.
"My sincere prayers and thoughts are with the affected families and people of Gurdaspur," he said.
