New Delhi: The nation is on high alert after terrorists in Army uniform attacked a police station in Punjab's Gurdaspur district on Monday.


Here are some of the facts related to the attack:


  • The attack began at 5 am today after terrorists stole a Maruti 800 car with Punjab registration number and shot dead a roadside vendor near Dinanagar bypass.
  • Driving in the stolen car, they opened fire at a moving bus near the Dinanagar bus stand, which was coming to Punjab side from Jammu and Kashmir on the Amaritsar-Pathankot Highway, injuring four passengers.
  • The terrorists then attacked the Dinanagar police station.
  • A big tragedy was averted after five bombs were also found on the Amritsar-Pathankot railway track.
  • Shortly after the attack, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that security forces have been rushed to Gurdaspur and he is 'confident that the situation will be soon brought in control'.
  • Former J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah drew comparison between Gurdaspur incident and attacks in border belt of Jammu. “The timing of the attack, methodology & location are all eerily similar to attacks in the border belt of Jammu,” he tweeted.
