Kathmandu: A Gorkha soldier serving in the
British Army in Afghanistan has been killed after being
severely injured during an insurgent attack.
The Gorkha soldier, who was serving with 1st Battalion,
The Yorkshire Regiment, succumbed to the injuries sustained
during operations yesterday in the Khar Nikah area of Helmand
province Afghanistan, a British Embassy press release said.
The Embassy said that the name of the deceased soldier is
yet to be released.
"The soldier was fatally wounded in an insurgent attack
while on a foot patrol to disrupt insurgent activity," said
the press release.
The next kin of the Gorkha soldier have been informed
about the incident, the release said without giving details.
