Japan pledges USD 8 mn for broadcasting sector in Nepal

Japan has pledged a grant of USD 8.1 million for the development of broadcasting sector in Nepal.

Kathmandu, July 29: Japan has pledged a grant of USD 8.1 million for the development of broadcasting sector in Nepal.
This was announced by Japan's Senior Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Yasuhisa Shiozaki, who is leading a delegation here in connection with the golden jubilee celebration of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Shiozaki, who met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Deputy Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli and other senior officials here also appreciated Nepal's peace initiatives and
democratization process, but, stressed that democratization process should also include management of the arms.

He said Japan would provide all possible assistance to Nepal, through bilateral and multilateral channels for strengthening and consolidation of democracy as well as for
the success of the peace process.

Shiozaki also met speaker of the house of the House of Representatives Subhash Nemwang. During the bilateral talks, a wide range of issues of bilateral, regional and international interests were discussed.

The talks also included the current political situation in Nepal, the peace process, bilateral economic cooperation, situation in Korean peninsula and the global peace and security situation.
