Kathmandu, July 12: Continuing the anti-terror drive, Nepalese security forces shot dead nine Maoist rebels in separate encounters across the country, official sources said today.

Three rebels were killed in an encounter with security
forces at Kuwaghari area of dang district while a Maoist was
shot dead by the army at Kiranchowk area of Dhading district,
they said.

The security forces also recovered explosives, firearms
and socket bombs from the encounter site in dang district, the
sources said.

In another incident, government troops gunned down three
ultras at Hariharpur village of Surkhet district during a
search operation, they said.

Two more guerrillas were killed in Rautahat district last
night in an encounter, the sources said, adding two armed
rebels surrendered before security forces in Sindhupal Chowk
district.

Meanwhile, an unidentified group abducted two locals from
Baghauda and Khairhani villages of Chitawan district last
night, the government-run Gorkhapatra daily said.

Eight masked men, carrying arms, abducted the two, it
added.
