Pak seeks help from Islamic countries to resolve Kashmir issue

Islamabad, Apr 24: Pakistan urged Islamic countries today to step up efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue with India.

Islamabad, Apr 24: Pakistan urged Islamic countries today to step up efforts to resolve the Kashmir issue with India.
“We think Islamic countries can play a vital role to resolve the issue of Kashmir,'' Information Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed told a news agency in Islamabad, Pakistan's capital.

“They should put pressure on India to hold talks with Pakistan,'' he said.

Ahmed's comments came as a four-member fact finding mission of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) met with Pakistani officials and visited Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-held Kashmir, for a first-hand look at the disputed region.

The mission, headed by OIC assistant secretary-general Izzat Kamel Mufti, yesterday met with Pakistan's Foreign Minister Khursheed Kasuri.

Ahmed said Pakistan welcomed the fact-finding missions because "we know that we have a strong case and we want to tell the world that no infiltration is taking place from our side into India."
