Karachi, Aug 23: Pakistan is to launch its second Agosta 90-B class submarine ahead of six months of sea trials on Saturday, a navy spokesman said Friday.
"The launching ceremony of the Agosta 90-B will be held at the Pakistan Naval Dockyard in Karachi on August 24," Commander Roshan Khaya said in a statement.
The submarine is equipped with four bow torpedo tubes and missiles, with its fighting capacity coordinated by the French-made Submarine Tactical Integrated Combat System (STICS).
The vessel was manufactured at the naval dockyard of this southern port city by local shipbuilders with the help of French marine engineers.
Eleven members of the French technical team were killed and another 12 injured by a suicide car-bombing in Karachi on May 8.
