`Rabbani’s assassination won’t deter peace seekers`

Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani was assassinated in a suicide attack in Kabul on September 20, 2011.

Islamabad: Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said former Afghan president and Afghan High Peace Council head Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani’s assassination would not deter peace- loving people from pursuing the path of peace and reconciliation, but strengthen their resolve for the cause.

Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani was assassinated in a suicide attack in Kabul on September 20, 2011.

Condemning Rabbani’s assassination as a ‘senseless and despicable act’, Zardari called on Afghan President Hamid Karzai and said he was deeply grieved over the tragic assassination of Professor Burhanuddin Rabbani, whom he had met on several occasions.
He said the late Rabbani was Pakistan’s friend and that his country’s citizens extend support to the people of Afghanistan in this hour of distress, the Express Tribune reports.
