In November 2015, NASA released a stunning 30-minute video of the sun showing the glowing ball of fire in unprecedented detail.

This time, the US space agency has once again managed to get us hooked on to the fiery star after it released an image depicting the sun's magnetic fields.

Captured by NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory on March 12, 2016, the image shows the ways the sun's magnetism changes in response to the constant movement on and inside the sun.

As per NASA, the illustrative image also shows that the sun's magnetic fields are densest near the bright spots visible on the sun – which are magnetically strong active regions – and many of the field lines link one active region to another.
