AMUSU to honour those framed in terror cases

The AMU Students` Union has decided to honour 12 Muslim people who were acquitted of attacking the Akshardham temple in Gujarat in 2002.

Aligarh: The AMU Students` Union has decided to honour 12 Muslim people who were acquitted of attacking the Akshardham temple in Gujarat in 2002.

They were acquitted on May 16, 2014.

They will be honoured at a public programme on Thursday evening at AMU.

The AMUSU has called for the creation of a National Fund for the Rehabilitation of Victims of State Terror.

One of the persons who has been acquitted is Mufti Abdul Qayyum, a madrassa teacher.

He has recently written a book on his horrific experiences in the jail during the 12 years he was incarcerated.
