Ghaziabad: Members belonging to a Hindu group on Thursday burnt effigy of Union Minister Kiren Rijiju here over his reported comment on beef eating and demanded that he be sacked.

"The remark made by Rijiju is obnoxious," National spokesman of Sarv Brahmin Maha Sabha B K Sharma said.

"If some minister in the Narendra Modi government eats beef, he must be sacked," he said adding that his statements had hurt the sentiments of Hindus.

Reacting to Union Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi's comments that those who want to eat beef "can go to Pakistan", Rijiju had reportedly said, "I eat beef, I'm from Arunachal Pradesh, can somebody stop me? So let us not be touchy about somebody's practices."
