Lokayukta probe against UP minister closed for want of evidence

An inquiry into the complaint with the state Lokayukta against Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Minister Mehboob Ali has been closed in the absence of adequate evidence.

Lucknow: An inquiry into the complaint with the state Lokayukta against Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Minister Mehboob Ali has been closed in the absence of adequate evidence.

A complaint against Mehboob Ali was lodged by Baba Tejgiri of Hardoi last year but when he was asked to provide adequate evidence, he failed to do so and hence the inquiry has been closed, an official release issued here said.

During the inquiry, it was also found that the complaint had no relation to the Secondary Education department and some details provided in it were fictitious and fake, it said.

Media reports had earlier alleged irregularities in fixation of examination centres and granting affiliation in the complaint.

The complaint filed against the SP minister by Tejgiri, a Hardoi school manager, contained allegations of irregularities in fixation of examination centers and granting affiliation.
