Varanasi: The toll in school van-train mishap has risen to seven with the death of one more girl at at the Banaras Hindu University hospital in Varanasi late on Monday night.

According to Mau police, Khushi (6), daughter of Mahesh, resident of Mahaso village under Ranipur police station area, succumbed to her injuries yesterday night.

"We received the information regarding the death of the girl today. She succumbed late last night," said Inspector (Ranipur), K K Pandey, adding that her body is yet to reach her village.

Meanwhile, the accused driver in the case, Suvinder, has been sent to judicial custody.

"His injuries were not very serious. He was sent to jail three days ago," said Pandey.

On December 4, a the school van, carrying nearly a dozen children and a woman, was hit by a passenger train at an unmanned level crossing nearly 3 km from Khurhat railway station in Mahaso village in Mau district.

While four children were declared brought dead, one of them had died late that evening after being taken to BHU Hospital. Another child succumbed the next day.

The treatment of two more minor boys Manan and Shivam are going on at BHU hospital here.

The two injured are still in coma since they were admitted to the? hospital here, BHU medical officer, KK Gupta said.
