Mathura: Over 55 lakh devotees have so far completed the 23-km long Goverdhan 'Parikrama' as part of this year's Mudiya Poono fair, which began here earlier this week.

There was a huge rush of pilgrims at the mela, which will end tomorrow on Guru Purnima.

"The devotees perform Goverdhan parikrama to seek blessings of Lord Krishna," Balram Das Baba, a saint, said.

District Magistrate Rajesh Kumar and SSP Rakesh Singh have been camping in the area to ensure that no untoward incident takes place.

"Over 55 lakh pilgrims have so far completed the parikarama of Goverdhan. Security of pilgrims is our prime concern. We have set up 20 outposts along the parikarma route and also posted policemen in plain clothes," Kumar said.
