UP: Minor girl raped-murdered in Muzaffarnagar; accused arrested, booked under POCSO

The accused, a cobbler by profession was arrested and has been booked under the POCSO Act.

Muzaffarnagar: A seven-year-old minor girl in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh was allegedly raped and murdered by a cobbler when she had gone to mend her school shoes, police said on Monday.

The girl's body was found on Sunday, police said.

The accused, a cobbler by profession, was arrested and produced before a court, the police official added. He was booked under relevant sections of IPC and POCSO Act. 

The court has sent the accused to 14-day judicial custody for committing the heinous act.
