UP polls: CPI(M) to field 16 candidates

CPI(M) said it has so far identified 16 seats to field its candidates in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

Lucknow: CPI(M) on Tuesday said it has so far
identified 16 seats to field its candidates in the Uttar
Pradesh assembly elections.

"We have identified 16 assembly seats in which we will
field candidates. Three or four more seats could be added to
it in days to come," CPI(M) State Secretary SP Kashyap told
reporters here.

He said that in the two-day state convention at Kanpur it
was decided that all left parties would unite to form the Left
Front to challenge Congress, BSP, BJP and SP parties.
The party also decided to launch campaigns on issues
related to public interest like price rise, corruption, land
acquisition and rise in crime.
