Mathura: If Uttar Pradesh Power Minister
Ramveer Upadhyaya has to be believed, then the state is all
set to become self reliant in power in the forthcoming years.

"In spite of remaining in power for decades, none of the
political parties took steps worth mentioning for additional
power generation to make the state self dependent. The
historical work of making state self reliant virtually started
in the regime of Chief Minister Mayavati," Upadhyaya said,
while talking to reporters here today.
After going through detailed records, he expressed his
concern over difference between consumption and revenue
collection ratio.

He expressed his displeasure when he found that the
bill amount of 500 KVA connection and 200 KVA connection was
almost identical.

"How the department would run like this," he said.
"Start checking of heavy connection holders of urban area
from forthcoming December 2010," Upadhyaya ordered.

While he checked the bills of heavy industries of Kosi
and Chhatta area of this distt, he instructed to mend few
technical snags in 220 KVA power staion of Gokul where he made
a surprise inspection earlier today.
