Dehradun: Accusing the Centre of heavily curtailing allocation of funds to Uttarakhand, the policy planning department of Pradesh Congress today threatened to hit the streets on July 27 against?the Modi government's attitude of neglect towards the hill state.
"The policy planning and discussion department of the party has decided that PCC workers will stage a dharna and demonstration in all 13 districts of the state on July 27 against the step-motherly treatment being meted out to Uttarakhand," its President Suryakant Dhasmana told reporters here.
The agitational programme was prepared by the policy planning and discussion department of the party at its first meeting held for the Garhwal region here today, Dhasmana said after the meeting.
Funds?which the state used to get at the time of UPA under centrally sponsored schemes have been heavily cut down especially those?meant for the welfare of SCs and STs, he alleged.
Attributing the "step-motherly" treatment of Uttarakhand to its being a Congress-governed state with the poor and marginalised sections being its largest support base, Dhasmana said it is being done deliberately as the Centre is daydreaming about creation of a Congress-free India.
"We have decided to go to people and expose the Centre's attitude of neglect towards the state through similar dharnas and demonstrations from time to time.
"Workshops will also be held for party workers to tell them how to establish contact with people and expose the Centre's gameplan," he said.
