U`khand govt admits shortage of drinking water

Uttarakhand government admitted there is shortage of drinking water in the state and said construction of more drinking water schemes depends on availability of funds.

admitted there is shortage of drinking water in the state and
said construction of more drinking water schemes depends on
availability of funds.

In reply to questions in the state Assembly, Parliamentary
Affairs and Drinking Water Minister Prakash Pant said many
areas in Uttarakhand, including Dehra Dun, face shortage of
drinking water during summer.

He said the department has prepared a Rs 66.86 lakh
drinking water scheme for Chandmari, Purohitwala, Nagnath,
Thabarwala, Bilaspur, Kandali, Jaitanwala, Baga, Kuthalgate
and Nayagaon areas. However, the work on the project will
start when the funds are available.
