Warning of heavy rains, landslides in Uttarakhand

Uttarakhand MeT department on Wednesday issued a warning predicting heavy rains and landslides in parts of the state especially in the high altitude districts for two days beginning tomorrow.

Dehradun: Uttarakhand MeT department on Wednesday issued a warning predicting heavy rains and landslides in parts of the state especially in the high altitude districts for two days beginning tomorrow.

Heavy rain could occur at isolated places especially in Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pauri, Tehri, Nainital, Almora and Pithoragarh districts of Uttarakhand during the next 48 hours starting from the morning of 25th, MeT office Director Anand Sharma said.

Moderate landslides could also occur in vulnerable areas, he said advising devotees currently on Chardham yatra to take necessary precautions and avoid visiting places known for their susceptibility to landslides.
