Bomb explosion injures three policemen in West Bengal's Dinajpur district

Three police personnel were injured when a bomb exploded at Itahar police station in North Dinajpur on Sunday, a police official said.

Raiganj: Three police personnel were injured when a bomb exploded at Itahar police station in North Dinajpur on Sunday, a police official said.

According to the police, the incident occurred today at around 11.30 am in the police station here.

The blast injured a sub inspector named Poran Mandal, assistant sub inspector Dipankar Chakraborty and a civic volunteer named Monirul Islam, who were admitted to the Raijang District hospital.

"The crude bomb was kept in a store room inside the police station, we are investigating how the bombs came inside the police station," Sujit Ghosh, Deputy Superintendent of Police," ANI quoted Raijang as saying.

Several bombs, recovered during a recent raid on a nearby village, had been kept at the police station for disposal when one of them exploded, the official said.

A sub-inspector, an assistant sub-inspector and a civic volunteer were injured and rushed to Raiganj district hospital, the official said adding that the other bombs had been defused.
