Kolkata: After its stellar performance, West Bengal BJP on Wednesday expressed hope that the state might get representation in the next expansion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s ministry.

"We are hopeful that in the next ministry expansion, there will be a representation from Bengal in the union ministry. But at the end of the day who will be inducted or not is the prerogative of the Prime Minister. He will take the final call," BJP leader in-charge of the state Siddharth Nath Singh told PTI here.

State BJP president Rahul Sinha also hoped that one of the two BJP MPs would find a berth in the ministry, saying that it would help the party indirectly to expand its base in the state.

A backbencher in state politics, the BJP has signalled its arrival in a big way winning the two prestigious seats of Darjeeling and Asansol with S S Alhuwalia and singer Babul Supriyo as its MPs.
The party also emerged second in three other seats of Kolkata South, Kolkata North and Maldaha South.

Above all, the party cashing in on the pro-Narendra Modi sentiment, has secured more than a 17 per cent vote share, it`s all-time best.
The maximum it had got previously was 13 per cent vote share in 1991 riding on the back of the Ayodha Rath Yatra.
