Dhaka: At least 20 Bangladeshis have been detained by the Malaysian Marine Police as they were attempting to travel to Malaysia illegally.
The Dhaka Tribune quoted a Malaysian newspaper as saying that the illegal immigrants were detained at Kuala Sungai Bagan Tengkorak of Tanjong Karang on Wednesday.Port Klang Marine Police acting commanding officer, ASP Mohd Rohaizad Mohd Nasir stated that the boat which was ferrying the illegal immigrants was seized around 2:25 p.m. (Malaysian time) under `Op Landai`.
According to Nasir, "Initial investigations revealed that a pom pom boat from Indonesia, KM PUTRA KUALO, was ferrying 20 Bangladeshi men, aged between 20 and 42."
