Baghdad: After months in captivity, the Islamic State militants group has released over 200 members of Yazidi community on Wednesday.

Those released includes women and children who bore marks of abuse and are in poor health.

At least 40 children have been sent for treatment to Irbil, the capital of Kurdish region.

No reason has been given by the militant group for the release of the 214 members of minority community who were abducted from Sinjar in August last year.

Tens of thousands of Yazidi people fled in August last year when the Islamic State group captured the town of Sinjar.
