Muslims required to stand up to terrorism: Jordan

Amman: Jordanian Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour said Saturday that it was the duty of all Arabs and Muslims to stand up to terrorism and terrorist groups that tarnish the image of Islam, media reported.

Jordan, which managed to thwart terrorist attempts, has played a role at all arenas to combat terrorism, Ensour said at a regional conference for Arab lawyers in Amman, Xinhua quoted the state-run Petra news agency as saying.

"The main loser of the terrorist acts and terrorism is Islam whose image is linked to cruelty, murder of children, crucifying opponents and bombing factories and mosques. Islam is a religion of moderation and tolerance," said Ensour.

The prime minister also said the terrorism and terrorist acts in the region have overshadowed the Palestinian issue and violations against Al Aqsa Mosque.
