St Petersburg: Russia will broaden in
areas like military-technical, electric power and agricultural
cooperation with Bangladesh, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has
said.
"We have provided preferential tariffs on traditional
commodities, and the same can be done in electric power,
agriculture, trade in mineral fertilizers and military
-technical cooperation. We are already doing that," he said at
yesterday meeting with Bangladesh counterpart Hasina Wajed.
Hasina thanked Putin for the invitation to attend the
International Tiger Forum in St Petersburg.
Bangladesh has always respected Russia, the premier said,
adding that Russian servicemen helped demine Bangladesh after
the war for independence.
"Our servicemen, including those taking part in
peacekeeping operations, need armaments and equipment, and we
are always glad when the deliveries are made quickly and at
reasonable prices," Hasina said.
