Kampala: After the US warned Uganda of a terror attack similar to Kenya’s Westgate mall’s, the Ugandan security forces were put on alert.
The forces are keeping a strict vigil on the visitors at Nakumatt Oasis shopping centre.
A government spokesman has appreciated the warning which US has passed on to its intelligence.
In 2010, Somalia’s al Shebab had attacked Kampala which killed more than 70 people.
Around 67 were killed in Nairobi Westgate mall attack in September when al Shebab militants had opened fired inside the mall.
The US embassy in Kampala has informed the Uganda intelligence about the possibility of similar attack. However, the date and exact location of the suspected attack is yet not ascertained.
