Mumbai: Esha Deol, who is expecting her first child, celebrated her godh bharai last week. Among the handful of celebrity invitees, was Amitabh Bachchan’s wife Jaya Bachchan. The veteran actress, who is known for speaking her mind, reportedly snapped at the priest at Esha’s godh bharai ceremony.

But if the latest reports are anything to go by, the Bachchan matriarch asked the star struck priest to focus on his prayers instead of taking selfies. This was said in good humour, eye witnesses said.

According to a report in DNA, a family friend, who was present at the do, laughed indulgently and said, “Firstly, she didn’t ‘snap’ at the priest. She very calmly told him to concentrate on his work. People around heard it and they were laughing, too. So, no bad blood at all. Having said that, let me add that Jaya is known to be extremely curt when she sees bad behaviour in public. She’d have probably given the priest a dressing-down if he had persisted with his star-struck behaviour. Luckily, he saw sense in her advice and all went well thereafter.”
