The 92-year-old media mogul Rupert Murdoch has announced his engagement to 66-year-old ex-police chaplain Ann Lesley Smith. The couple first connected at a gathering at Murdoch's California vineyard in September of last year.
Murdoch, who owns the New York Post, expressed his joy by saying that although he was frightened of falling in love, he knew that this would be his last love, and he is thrilled. He revealed that he was "one fourth Irish," which made him uneasy, and mentioned that he proposed to Smith on St. Patrick's Day. In August 2022, Murdoch filed for divorce from Jerry Hall, his fourth wife.
Murdoch was married to the entrepreneur of Chinese ethnicity Wendi Deng for 14 years. They met by chance at a business gathering in Hong Kong in 1997 when Deng, who was over 30 years his junior, was an intern at a News Corp.-owned TV station. Their two children, Grace and Chloe, were born following their divorce in 2014.
In 2016, Murdoch wed Jerry Hall in London's St. Bride's cathedral after a five-month engagement to the former supermodel. Hall had four children with Rolling Stones singer Sir Mick Jagger during the course of their more than 20-year relationship.
