Swiggy Success Story: Sriharsha Majety, the visionary co-founder and CEO of Swiggy, stands as a prominent figure in India’s flourishing startup landscape. Sriharsha Majety’s journey is truly inspiring.
From being a small-town boy with big dreams, he worked hard to build India’s biggest food delivery platform. Notably, Swiggy was started in a small office space in Koramangala, Bengaluru, and the company started off with quite a few limitations.
Sriharsha Majety, born in Andhra Pradesh in 1986, comes from a well-educated family. He pursued a BE in Electrical and Electronics and an MSc in Physics from BITS Pilani, graduating in 2008. He later earned a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM Calcutta.
Majety embarked on a 3500-kilometre bicycle journey from Portugal to Greece, exploring diverse cultures. He continued his travels from Turkey to Kazakhstan using public transport and hitchhiking.
In 2013, Majety co-founded Bundl, a logistics platform to help e-commerce merchants manage deliveries across India.
Recognizing the potential for food delivery, Majety transformed Bundl into Swiggy in 2014 with co-founders Nandan Reddy and Rahul Jaimini.
Under his leadership, Swiggy operates in 500+ cities, has 10,000+ delivery executives, and partners with 800 restaurants, delivering over 1 million orders daily.
Majety’s entrepreneurial roots run deep, as his father owned a restaurant in Vijayawada. His mother is a doctor. He is married to Neetha Majety, whom he met at IIM Calcutta.
According to reports, Majety's net worth is Rs 1400 crore. Swiggy had a valuation of $10.7 billion (approx. Rs 87,500 crore) by 2022, making it one of India’s most valuable startups. (Image Credit: Social Media)
