Bharat Bandh: How shutdown called by farmers hit normal life in India- In pics

The ‘Samyukta Kisan Morcha’ (SKM), the apex farmers’ body that is protesting against the Centre’s three farm laws, is observing a 12-hour (6 AM to 6 PM) nationwide shutdown or Bharat Bandh on Friday (March 26).

All shops, malls, markets and institutions will remain closed under complete Bharat Bandh. All minor and big roads and trains will be blocked.

Rail services affected

Rail traffic was badly hit as farmers, farm labourers, commission agents, trade unions and activists of political parties squatted on railway lines and national highways. However, there was no report of any untoward incident from anywhere in the states.

The effect of Bharat Bandh will be observed inside Delhi as well. The Bharat Bandh today, called by farmer unions, has minimal impact in Delhi. The police officials reveal that no report of a disturbance in metro and road transport services reported and major markets remain open. The situation is peaceful and remains under control.
