Indian Navy on July 16 received the first two of its MH-60R Multi Role Helicopters (MRH) from the US Navy.
Indian Navy on July 16 accepted the first two of its MH-60R Multi Role Helicopters (MRH) from the US Navy.
The ceremony which was held at the Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego (US), marked the formal transfer of these helicopters from the US Navy to the Indian Navy.
They were accepted by the Indian Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu.
MH-60R helicopters have been manufactured by the Lockheed Martin Corporation in the US.
It is an all-weather helicopter designed to support multiple missions with state of the art avionics/sensors.
24 of these helicopters are being procured under Foreign Military Sales from the US Government. The helicopters would also be modified with several India Unique Equipment and weapons.
During the ceremony, the helicopter documents were also exchanged between US Navy Commander Naval Air Forces Kenneth Whitesell and Indian Navy Deputy Chief of Naval Staff Ravneet Singh.
