When the Moon moves between the Sun and Earth, thereby casting a shadow on Earth, a solar eclipse takes place. During an eclipse, the Sun's light is partially or fully blocked in certain areas. When it's a Total Solar Eclipse, the Sun, Moon, and Earth are aligned directly.

How can Indians view the eclipse?

While this particular eclipse won't be visible from India, NASA has arranged for the live broadcast of the celestial event from Union Glacier, Antarctica. They will stream the event on YouTube and nasa.gov/live. For areas where the eclipse will be visible, NASA has warned that people must use solar viewing or wear eclipse glasses and not stare at the sun directly.

Stargazers in India were in for a treat as 2021's last lunar eclipse of the year took place on November 19. The lunar eclipse took place and was visible for a very short span of time and only at northeastern India. It was the second and final lunar eclipse of the year and was a partial lunar eclipse. It was dubbed as the longest one for the century.
