Ye makaan bikau hai: Dalit colony in UP's Hapur compelled to put up posters for house on sale

Several residents of a Dalit colony in Hapur (Uttar Pradesh) have been compelled to put up posters saying 'Yeh Ghar Bikau Hai' (this house is for sale).

When Zee Media approached them, the residents told us that they have put up posters because they lack basic amenities.

The residents of the Adarsh Nagar colony said that they are living there for over two decades but don't even have basic facilities. 

They complained that there is no proper road, there's lack of water and that there are no toilets. 

They told Zee Media that they have complained to the concerned authorities and have also staged protests but nothing has been done so far.

The residents stated that they also pay regular house tax and despite that, they lack the basic amenities.

This is the reason why they want to leave the place and want to sell their houses. 

The residents also clarified that there's no communal angle behind selling their houses.
