Kohli made his Test captaincy debut at Adelaide on December 9, 2014 in absence of an unfit MS Dhoni. Dhoni captained India in next two Tests but after he announced his retirement at the end of third Test, Kohli took the baton from him permanently and led India in 4th Test at Sydney. Virat Kohli married long-time girlfriend Anushka just before Indian team was to set out for tour of South Africa in 2017-2018. He married the bollywood actor and producer Anushka in Tuscany, Italy, after dating her for many years. (Source: Instagram) 

Virat and Anushka were blessed with a baby girl in January 2021. They named her Vamika. Virat had cut short his trip of Australia, returning home after playing just the first Test at Adelaide, in which India were bowled out for just 36. Virat's stint as Test captain started off with a loss and it has ended also with a defeat. However, in between he was superb as a leader. His last Test series as captain happened to be against South Africa, which unfortunately for him, India lost 2-1. But Virat had a fantastic career as captain of the Test team.
