Yash Dhull joins Virat Kohli in elite list with century against Australia: All you need to know about India U19 captain – In Pics

Skipper Yash Dhull gave a glimpse of his rare talent with a well-paced hundred as powerhouse India reached their fourth consecutive U-19 World Cup final with an emphatic 96-run win over Australia on Wednesday.

Dhull struck a sublime 110 in as many balls and shared a game-changing 204-run stand with his deputy Shaik Rasheed (94 off 108 balls) to fire India to a formidable 290 for five after opting to bat.

Later, Indian bowlers then performed their roles to perfection to bowl Australia out for 194 in 41.5 overs.

Notably, the highly-rated Dhull played another sublime knock. The pitch was on the slower side but he rotated the strike at ease before accelerating to pick boundaries at will, collecting 10 fours and a six in total.

In the process, Dhull also joined Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand in the elite list.

It was Dhull’s mother who saw the spark in young Yash and enrolled him in an academy. When he was just 6 years old, his mother took him to Bal Bhawan Cricket Academy. He was supported by his entire family to pursue his passion, his grandfather used to take him to train and wait outside till he finishes.

Also, Yash’s father revealed that he worked as an executive with a cosmetic brand and he had to give it up to support his ward’s cricket. He made sure that Yash got the best kit and gear from his early days.

Speaking to Times Now Yash’s father said: “I had to ensure he got the best kit and gear to play from an early age. I gave him the best of English willow bats. He didn’t have just one bat, I kept upgrading them. We had cut down on our expenses. My father was an army man. The pension that he received was used to run the household. Yash would always wonder how we were managing it.”
