Noted Malayalam actor Sreenivasan hospitalized in Kochi

The 61-year-old actor, who was brought to a Kochi hospital on Tuesday, has been advised a day rest by doctors. He is likely to be discharged soon.

Kochi: Noted Malayalam actor Sreenivasan of Sandhesam fame was on Tuesday rushed to a Kochi hospital following a variation in his blood sugar levels. The actor is under observation and is condition is said to be stable. 

Several reports claimed that yesterday, the 61-year-old had suffered a heart stroke after which he was taken to the hospital. However, his son Vineeth on Wednesday morning posted a message on Facebook dismissing reports of heart stroke and said that he will be discharged soon from the hospital. 

He also urged the people to not spread false news about his father's health.

Apart from being an acclaimed actor, Sreenivasan is also an acclaimed Malayalam screenwriter, filmmaker and producer. He is known for portraying several comic roles on the big screen and has so far acted in over 200 films. He has been a part of some big projects with superstar Mohanlal. He is also popular for his satirical scripts and movies on politics and life.

In September last year, Sreenivasan made headlines after he reportedly extended his support to his colleague and actor-producer Dileep who was in judicial custody in connection with the abduction and sexual assault of a Malayalam actor. Protesters stormed and vandalised Sreenivasan's house and smeared black oil outside his front gate and on the name board of the gate.
