Asian Games: Indians impress in Kayak and Canoe events

Incheon: On a fruitful day for Indian athletes in the Asian Games, the Kayaking and Canoeing team also made its presence felt after a host of national kayakers, including Albert Raj Selvaraj, made it to the semi-finals of the singles and team events, here on Saturday.

Selvaraj was good in the 1000m men's Heat as he covered the distance in 15.306 minutes to make the final-four of the Kayak single.

Gaurav Tomar also kept himself in the running as he qualified for the semi-finals of the Canoe single after clocking 17.160 minutes in the 1000m Heat.

In the Canoe men's double, India's Ajit Kumar Sha and Raju Rawat clocked 11.606 in the 1000m Heat to book their final-four spot.

In the Kayak Double, Sunny Kumar and Chingching Singh Arambam covered the 1000m in 3.606 minutes to move into the semi-finals. The Sunny-Arambam duo also moved into the Kayak double in 200m.

In Kayak Four, Singh Ajit Sunny, Ramesh Golli and Arambam

Timed 14.031 minutes in the 100m Heat to make the semi-final cut. Golli also made it to the 200m Kayak single semi-final.

Jamesboy Singh Oinam surged ahead in the Canoe single as he clocked 3.669 in the 200m Heat.

The women also did not disappoint as Biju Anusha made it to the Kayak single semi-finals after clocking 16.063 minutes in 500m heat and also entered the last-four in the 200m single.

Ragina Kiro and Nanao Devi Ahongshangbam impressed in the Kayak double 500m after making it to the semi-finals.
