While it was long believed that MS Dhoni was the league's highest-paid player, the numbers on the IPL website painted a different story.

In fact, it is India's Test skipper Virat Kohli who tops that list. He is paid a cool Rs 15 crore (USD 2.26 million) by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Dhoni will be paid USD 1.89 million by his new Pune team.

Chris Gayle is unsurprisingly, the highest-paid overseas cricketer in IPL.
